St. Edwards

Going riding today at a pit close here to work. Some dude built some ladder drops, hips, and an interesting looking wallride. Should be good. Finally gonna ship my fork back to FOX so I can get back to my weekly epics. Epics are the best....long grueling rides are the fruit of mountain biking. So much time to think...you really gotta push yourself and my favorite part about riding a long distance is when you get to that point of no return. When you get to the point where the truck is a ways back there and you just gotta keep pluggin away. It's all relative by the way cause 25miles to a road rider is nothing but if you are riding tough single track sometimes that amount is equal to three times the distance on the road. Good stuff and very rewarding with an all mountain capable bike. What a good purchase...the fork is a mearly a set back. How many times did you have to send your fork back Brent? Bring on the PIKE!

I rode the Glamis Sand Dunes this past weekend with Donna and Nick. One word to describe Glamis...MASSIVE! It's probably the gnarliest place I have ever been. It was very difficult for me to change my riding style to match the terrain there. This became abundantly clear numerous times when I found myself laying in the sand with the KTM 400 thumpin in the sand next to me. First crash I hit some loose sand on a small climb and sacked into the bars, second I was trying to get tricky on a jump we found and had to hit the eject button, third I hit some soft sand on a steep going to slow and high sided while the bike decided to land on top of me jus to say hi....Donna was behind me and almost ran me over. Glamis is no joke....it was a lot of fun and I was able to hang for the most part. Everything I knew about riding a dirtbike on the trails was thrown right out the window...throttle was steering, braking, momentum, and acceleration. I'm sure glad Donna has a steering damper on the bike cause the dunes would be hell without one. Saw some really cool FAST as shit sand rails at the sand drags on Saturday night, slept in the sand under the stars, put in a ton of miles, and burnt up a ton of gas. I was scared the entire time...felt great!

Good things....

Summer is on it's way and i'm nervous. I find myself at a strange station in life, listening to very sad music...I'm lazy....not very driven sometimes, mediocre at the things I do at best...tired, waiting, sippin on coffee every morning at 5:55am. Dunno what's next actually, yard work, work work, riding my bike alone into endless clouds of dust, sun burns, penny pinchin, BBQ's, lonlieness, downtime, plane rides, self doubt, pride, all different things that come to my head at the moment....tons of things that I can't figure out and don't care to right now. I'll keep it goin cause thats why i'm here...to walk around and live. I miss riding my bike in Seattle....Tiger Mountain. I wanna get up early, drive down 35th, stop at Tully's for some coffee, drive in the rain out I-90, down Highway 18, on a Thursday morning. No one would be parked at Tiger and it would be about 8am. I'd get out, stretch, watch my breath hit the cold air, and pedal my ass off up the mountain. It would be very muddy and foggy at the top and I would be alone. I wouldn't go very fast down the trail as i'd want to stay in the woods for as long as possible. I'd get to the fire road and pedal like a maniac to the lower trail, at the end of the trail I would head south on the fire road to the Preston Rail Trail and pick my way thru the woods once again. Back at the truck I would be beat but happy as ever. Can't wait for my trip home....Seattle is great in the summer.

Playing indoor soccer on an indoor team called "Knight Thunder". Silly name I know but hey, I didn't pick it. If I did i'd probably name it something like "F-Yeah!" or "The Silly Sods". Some people have no imagination I suppose. I just found out that Bad Brains is coming to town on May 7th with HR! I'm goin...I haven't been excited to go to a show for quite a long time. I think the last streak was something like....I dunno Motorhead but that got canceled and I was heart broken. Anyways, Bad Brains is a great band and I really hope I can get into this show as i'm sure it will sell out pretty quick. There are gonna be some wierd rastas at the show i'm sure and that should be rather laughable. Off to the world Famous Glamis Dunes this weekend with my buddy Donna. She has been very generous and has been takin me out on dirtbike rides every now and then just to keep my dirtbike fix at bay. Thanks buddy! I can only imagine the dunes really bein like huge waves for your motorcycle...it should be crazy.

I was supposed to do my damned super long ride this past weekend but I got to doin some yard work and zapped all my energy. I was bummed...but satisfied at the same time. I think that's how this house is gonna pan out. Bummed that it takes a lot of work but very rewarding doin it solo. Shuttles on Sunday killed me man....I was so knackered that I took a good 3hour nap when I got home. My hands were very swollen for a coupla days too....nice to have a reminder that you got gnar over the weekend. Walk very slow around the office....

My new bike in pieces...the front fork already has play where the stancions go into the slider....arrrggghhh. Hope to have someone here in Phoenix warranty it. This bike has seen a ton of riding in the past week and a half. Put it back together and rock it for National "East to West" on Friday. Worry about the fork later. Hope she holds up on the 28mile ride. To be continued... Posted by Picasa

My old car in my new yard...how sweet it was to cruise it around town a bit. It even has the Ronnie Bertino "signature model" sticker in the rear window. Good times in that car.... Posted by Picasa
